ArchivesLamentations 3 In Lamentations 3 we see the affect of emotions on ourselves. Jeremiah, who wrote Lamentations, is sad because of all that is going on. The Israelites have turned away from God and their nation is being destroyed by their enemy. Jeremiah could have stayed sad and could have fed his sadness by concentrating on the hopelessness of his situation. This could have led on to depression for a day or week or more as he fed his negative feelings. However by the end of the chapter he finishes the chapter fighting with strength. How? He used the truth! Instead of just focusing on his circumstances, Jeremiah remembered that God is in control and can change negative situations and bring good out of them. He remembered who God was and what he can do. Instead of looking at his own weakness Jeremiah looked at God's strength. Often we get down because we think about our own failures and weakness. One way out of this misery is to remember who God is. To remember however weak we are, God is strong. To remember that however bad things get, God can bring good out of them. Finally however sinful we are, God forgives us when we ask him to and stop sinning. That no matter what we done Christ's death paid the price. - Keith Smith What part does Praise play in your life? Read 2 Chronicles 20 v 1 - 30 When the people of Judah faced an overwhelming problem what did they do? They asked God for His opinion and then went to battle. How did they battle? It was lead by praise and a great victory was won, not by Judah but by God! What about us? How do we respond when faced by an overwhelming problem? Do we go to God? If we do, how do we fight? What part does praise play in our battles? Remember "The Battle belongs to the Lord!"
